Question/Answers
Do river cruises cost a lot of money?
The price of one of their river cruises includes round-trip airfare, ground transportation, shipboard lodging, all meals, and a number of guided shore excursions. All alcoholic beverages, spa services, and optional shore excursions will cost extra and require a signature on board. On your final evening aboard, you will pay a total charge for these a la carte items. Lueftner ships feature complimentary local wine with dinner, while Nicko cruises offer an optional beverage package.
What kinds of excursions do you offer on river cruises?
You can arrange additional tours on board for an additional fee, in addition to the ones that are already included in your package. Excursions are led by local guides who are experts in their fields, so they’ll learn as much as possible about the locations they visit. There will be full-day excursions, half-day tours, and free time for independent exploration in addition to the scheduled activities. With a river cruise, you can spend more time enjoying the sights and sounds of each port of call because your ship docks right in the middle of the activity. During your trip, a representative from their Travel Department will be available to assist with any concerns that may occur. They have been everywhere you plan to go, so they can give you firsthand advice on what to do in your spare time.
Can you tell me about the river cruise staterooms?
There are a wide variety of cabin styles and layouts available, and these will change depending on the ship and the specific cabin category that has been reserved. Cabins on the lower deck are included in the base price of a River Cruise vacation booked via Travel Department; upgrades to the middle and upper decks are available for an additional fee. Smaller, fixed windows are common in lower deck cabins, whereas larger, opening windows are more common in cabins on the ship’s middle and upper decks. The descriptions of each trip provide more specifics. There is a hair dryer, a safe and air conditioning in each of the cabins, as well as a private bathroom with a shower.
Is it true that river cruises include gratuities?
Holiday does not include gratuities for river cruise staff. Tipping is not mandatory, but it is customary to show appreciation for excellent service with a financial gesture. They propose that you tip the general staff at the rate of €8 per passenger per day, and the Cruise Director at the rate of €2 per visitor per day.
Is it possible to take a river cruise if you have limited mobility?
It is not recommended that people with mobility issues take river cruise vacations. Many of the ships do not have lifts, and it is fairly uncommon to have to walk across the decks of adjacent ships to reach your own. Also, some tours will require long hours of walking and standing, sometimes on cobblestones or other uneven ground. Some areas will require you to climb up or down a lot of stairs. To help you choose the perfect vacation, Travel Department Have included an activity level recommendation for each of their tours. Please feel free to contact them personally to discuss your individual needs and receive personalised recommendations for their river cruises.
