Brand Overview

The organisation was originally established in 1942 under the name of Oxford Committee for Famine Relief due to the famine in Greece as the result of the blockade by the Allies. They acted and collected necessary funds for the famine relief but also protested against the fact that the common people are suffering the consequences of decisions made by the elites.

The famine committees in UK in 1945 demanded the UK government to allow the British people to send food parcels to Germany and to remove the blockade. They have always questioned the decisions of the leaders of the world as a voice for equality and justice as it is.

Today, they recognise this part of their history—and the role they have played in perpetuating these colonial narratives that position people of the Global North as’rescuers’ and people of the Global South as ‘victims’.

Meet the climate activists

As Oxfam continues its struggle for climate justice, the organisation is working together with climate activists from all around the world who are at the forefront of the fight against climate change.

Hilda Flavia Nakabuye, Uganda

The fact that climate change is not an issue of decision but rather a fight that is carried out continuously is something that I would wish to draw your attention to as a Ugandan. I would like to bring this to your attention since it is something that I would like to mention.

Lavetanalagi Seru, Fiji

I have been privileged throughout my whole life to witness the effects of climate change that have affected their people and the environment. I come from one of the regions and countries that are most vulnerable to the impacts of climate change, and I have had the opportunity to experience these impacts as a reality all my life.

Marinel Ubaldo, The Philippines

I can hardly even grasp the subject in my head that their people in the Philippines are dying because of climate change, which they did not cause. When I attempt to wrap my head around the idea, I can’t even begin to do so.

Pavel Martiarena, Peru

My hope brought me to this place, and at the same time, it is necessary to understand that one cannot exist solely based on feelings and emotions. I am here because I have hope. If you do not have hope, you cannot live.

Stay in the fight for climate justice

The earth belongs to all of them, and therefore it is the duty of all of them to ensure that they are able to take responsibility for it. It is high time they all join hands in order to conserve it for the future generations of their own as well as for all of them in the present.

East Africa Hunger Crisis

Due to conditions that are out of their control, there are about 28 million people in Ethiopia, Somalia, South Sudan, and Kenya suffering from terrible famine. These are some of the causes of this conflict: the catastrophic climate change, the ongoing struggle, and the crippling cost of life.

As the youth, They are the future of the world

Jessy and Isaac are young Climate activists from Malawi who visited London in 2019. With Send My Friend To School. And the support of Oxfam GB. They discussed their experiences of climate change with school students in UK. And to the concerned activists that were demonstrating in London against the effects of global warming.

Why To Donate to Oxfam?

There is no better way of giving back to society than donating to Oxfam, which seeks to eradicate poverty, inequality, and social injustice. Oxfam is a well-known international non-governmental organisation that aims at addressing the needs of people in crisis situations in the short term and in the long term.

When you give, your money goes to helping people in need by offering them food, water, shelter, and other necessities in the wake of disasters, wars, or other emergencies. Apart from emergency aid, Oxfam also undertakes long-term development programmes that aim at addressing education, health, agriculture, and business, among others, in order to enhance people’s ability to cope with the challenges they face and make sustainable livelihoods.

Also, Oxfam employs the funds received through donations to lobby for change in policies that would help eradicate poverty and inequality, including gender, trade, and climate injustice. When you give to Oxfam, your contribution goes beyond meeting immediate needs but also works towards change and helping vulnerable groups to bring about sustainable change.

Make a difference today by donating to Oxfam. Your support provides life-saving relief, empowers communities, and drives lasting change. Join the fight against poverty and injustice—donate now and help create a better world for all.
