3-D Poster Miles Aldridge
Miles Aldridge came into prominence in the mid 1990s with his highly styled color photographs that referenced pop culture, art history, and film-noir. The famous colorist Aldridge composes intricate staged performances with an intense focus on the use of neon and vivid green. These rather glamorous, most often sexualized images plunge into the culture’s idealized vision of the home, where pristine appearance hides the sinister.
Empire State Building Poster Elliott Erwitt
This poster is of the famous Empire State Building which is blurred with fog and silhouette of a woman and is part of the 100+1 exhibition of Elliot Erwitt.
Bye Bye Paris Poster Ellen von Unwerth
This reproduction of Ellen von Unwerth’s ‘Bye Bye Paris’ poster reveals a melancholy aspect of the photographer who is more associated with erotic power struggle in her works. The image of Paris goes by in a pinky blue wash while the model, who is dressed somewhere in between a girl and a woman, ascends holding a bouquet of vivid balloons. Cute and fashionable, resembling the illustrations in children’s books, the top seller poster is a great example.
Aristocracy: Private Pirates Poster David LaChapelle
This poster for the exhibition create Believe features three planes circling in vibrant pink spirals, illustrating David LaChapelle’s Aristocracy: Private Pirates (2014). Like all other photos in Aristocracy series, this one must have been a dream for LaChapelle. Large water tanks were used to submerge model private jets and tempera paint and gelled lights were used to produce the colors of the clouds.
LaChapelle pulled off these scenes which are hazy like Turner and the rather indistinct blend of sunrise and sunset that is as stunning as a color field painting if not the pastoral. But the essence of plane crashes is not drowned in all this uncertainty. LaChapelle has commented on the desire to get to unattainable goals, the frantic race of acquisition and the journey of desire to a state of being closed in and ignited with this circling confusion of these planes.
