Samsung are pleased to announce the arrival of the Samsung Galaxy S24 Ultra, a titanic smartphone made of titanium that not only offers improvements in camera, performance, and display, but also a plethora of new capabilities that are powered by Samsung’s recently introduced Galaxy AI system.
It is indisputable that the Galaxy S24 Ultra remains the most superior model in the Galaxy S24 series, despite the fact that the more affordable handsets in the lineup have received significant improvements of their own. On the other hand, there are still some of the Galaxy S24 Ultra’s specifications that are extremely comparable to those of the Galaxy S23 Ultra. However, it is possible that as time goes on, a greater performance gap will emerge between the current gadget and the one that was released the previous year.

SAMSUNG GALAXY S24 ULTRA DESIGN AND DISPLAY
The Samsung Galaxy S24 Ultra, a slightly redesigned phone, may initially resemble the Galaxy S23 Ultra but has made significant changes. The side rails are made of titanium, providing a lighter and tougher design with a luxurious finish. The S Pen stylus is retained, but with a flat clicky top. The display is less curved and offers slimmer bezels, with a 6.8-inch OLED panel with a QHD resolution and a 1 – 120 Hz refresh rate. The phone also has an enhanced rated brightness of 2,600 nits. It has an IP68 dust/water resistance rating, similar to Samsung’s Galaxy S phones. The S24 Ultra features Gorilla Armor toughened glass, which is four times scratch-resistant and reduces reflectivity by 75% for better reading in bright conditions. The phone comes in four standard colors: Titanium Gray, Titanium Black, Titanium Violet, and Titanium Yellow, with additional options like Titanium Orange, Titanium Green, and Titanium Blue.
SAMSUNG GALAXY S24 ULTRA CAMERAS
The Samsung Galaxy S24 Ultra features a 200MP main camera, 12MP ultrawide camera, 10MP 3x telephoto camera, 12MP selfie camera, and a 50MP 5x telephoto camera. The camera’s sensors are the same as the Galaxy S23 Ultra, with the new 5x lens offering lossless 10x zoom due to its higher resolution. Other photography updates include improved “Nightography” low-light shooting, Super HDR support for Camera, Gallery, and Instagram apps, and new AI abilities like automated photo remastering and reflection removal. The Galaxy S24 Ultra’s biggest AI update is its generative editing ability, which allows users to move subjects or expand image borders to fix angles or tight shots. Additionally, the device’s signature AI-powered feature is instant slo-mo, which builds in-between frames to slow and smooth out video clips with a long tap of the video in the Gallery.
SAMSUNG GALAXY S24 ULTRA PERFORMANCE
Every single Galaxy S24 Ultra model released around the world will have Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 for Galaxy processor. Performance, efficiency, and ray tracing in games should all see significant improvements with the new processor, we may expect even better performance from this “For Galaxy” version of the chip compared to other Snapdragon-powered flagship Android phones.
While the base 256GB storage remains same, Samsung has upgraded the Galaxy S24 Ultra’s RAM to 12GB by default. Additionally, the phone comes with the option to buy 512GB or 1TB of storage for those who are willing to pay a bit extra.
BATTERY AND CHARGING
The Galaxy S24 Ultra, like previous Ultra models from Samsung, comes with a 5,000 mAh battery. Even yet, we’re holding out hope that Samsung can further enhance the Galaxy S23 Ultra’s already impressive battery life with the new chip’s efficiency enhancements. The 45W cable charging and 15W wireless charging capabilities of the Galaxy S23 Ultra are also present in the Galaxy S24 Ultra. Even while Samsung claims that a suitable charger can charge the device to 65% in 30 minutes.
SOFTWARE
The Samsung Galaxy S24 series begins with Android 14 pre-installed, and then Samsung’s One UI 6.1 is applied on top of that underlying operating system. What is more significant than this, however, is the fact that Samsung has guaranteed that the Galaxy S24 series will receive complete updates for a period of seven years. Being on par with Google in terms of the number of years that a phone manufacturer offers, the S24 is an excellent option for purchasers who are considering a long-term commitment.
GALAXY AI FEATURES
Samsung’s Galaxy S24 series focuses on Galaxy AI features, offering a wide range of capabilities. These include real-time text and in-call translation for 13 languages, which makes communication with people abroad easier. Translation can also be used to create AI summaries of text, such as in the Notes app or using the Browser Assist to scan through online articles. The Galaxy S24’s keyboard features the Chat Assist function, which spell-checks work, checks tone, and suggests alternative writing styles. The Voice Recorder app can create summaries and identify up to 20 speakers, making long transcripts easier to read and understand. The Notes app can reformatify thoughts captured in the Notes app, and Notes can straighten out handwritten notes. The Circle to Search feature allows users to press and hold the home button, draw around something on-screen with their finger or S Pen, and get Google Search results. Follow-up queries can be made to learn more about a topic or ask the AI to help users make use of new information.
OUTLOOK
Although most of the Galaxy S24 Ultra’s improvements are understated, they are sufficient to warrant the new phone’s release from Samsung. Power users and mobile gamers will be pleased with the new processor and enhanced RAM, while the subset of phone customers focusing on photography will be enticed by the new telephoto camera. Everyone should feel more confident using the device now that it has a flatter design, titanium sides, and a brighter screen.
Samsung has placed a large wager on artificial intelligence, but the outcome is uncertain. I am impressed by the sheer amount of applications that Galaxy AI has. It clearly poses a serious challenge to Google’s smartphone smarts dominance. But it’s still unclear if this will appeal to the typical smartphone buyer or if it will just be a lot of effort aimed at a tiny niche. The answer will become clear as we have more experience with these phones.
