Only at LW Theatres will you be able to take in the full impact of a live performance. From the backstage crew to the opening night festivities, we place a great importance on all aspects of the production process. It’s exactly the same with our customers. Andrew Lloyd Webber has a proven track record of putting on magnificent productions. The reason we’ve been London’s largest producer of musical theatre for the past four decades is that we take great pride in the work we do. The West End is the greatest place to see a show if you’ve been to London before.
People are constantly on the lookout for new and better ways to do things. Every interaction between a company and its consumers should be elevated to a new level of excellence. It was in July that we renamed our company and updated our website to better serve our clients. Regardless of whether or not you purchase a ticket, we want your overall experience to be positive.
LW Theatres is the place to go if you want to watch a long-running classic like The Phantom of the Opera or a brand-new production like Cinderella. The only place to witness a show of a lifetime with the greatest seats and the most convenient seating options is LW Theatres. Because each of our old and historic theatres has its own particular personality, it’s no coincidence. It’s possible to be part of something greater than the show itself when you participate with LW Theatre.
CAMBRIDGE THEATRE
This exciting new theatre is widely regarded as one of the most visually appealing venues in the West End, and it has played host to some of the most visually arresting and inspirational plays and musicals of recent years. Having joined the LW Theatres family in 2000, the Cambridge Theatre quickly became known for hosting the controversial but hugely successful Jerry Springer: The Opera in 2001. Matilda the Musical, a stage adaptation of Roald Dahl’s popular novel, is currently playing to packed houses and rapt audiences in its small theatre.
For smaller occasions, the multi-functional Cambridge Theatre has a private room that can accommodate up to 14 people or 50 people standing in addition to its generously sized 1200-seat main auditorium for conferences and launches. You’ll find us in the heart of Seven Dials, the bustling yet readily accessible centre of London’s characterful Covent Garden, where our first-class facilities and technical support personnel will ensure that your next event is nothing short of spectacular.

Really Useful Theatres.
THEATRE ROYAL DRURY LANE
Located in Covent Garden in the heart of London’s West End, the Theatre Royal Drury Lane (also known as Drury Lane) is a West End theatre and a Grade I listed property. Catherine Street (formerly known as Bridges or Brydges Street) is on one side of the structure, while Drury Lane is on the other. The building is the most current in a series of four theatres that have been constructed at the same place, the first of which was constructed in 1663, making it the oldest theatre site in London that is still in operation. According to scholar Peter Thomson, Drury Lane could “fairly claim to be London’s principal theatre” for the first two centuries of its existence. For the majority of that time, it was one of a small number of patent theatres in London that were awarded monopoly rights to the production of “legitimate” drama (meaning spoken plays, rather than opera, dance, concerts, or plays with music).
During the English Restoration, theatres were permitted to reopen in the early 1660s, and Thomas Killigrew was the driving force behind the construction of the first theatre on this site. The proprietors of the theatre, which was formerly named as “Theatre Royal in Bridges Street,” recruited a number of well-known actors to appear on a regular basis at the theatre, including Nell Gwyn and Charles Hart. The theatre was destroyed by fire in 1672, and Killigrew rebuilt a grander playhouse on the same site, which he dubbed the “Theatre Royal in Drury Lane,” which opened in 1674. It was occupied for nearly 120 years, under the leadership of Colley Cibber, David Garrick, and Richard Brinsley Sheridan, the last of whom engaged Joseph Grimaldi as the theatre’s resident clown throughout his tenure as director.
When the edifice was dismantled in 1791, it was under the direction of Sheridan, to make way for a grander theatre, which opened its doors in 1794. Before it was destroyed by fire in 1809, the new Drury Lane had been in operation for 15 years. The structure that stands today was completed in 1812. It has hosted a number of well-known actors, including Edmund Kean, comedian Dan Leno, and musical composer and performer Ivor Novello, as well as other celebrities. Starting with Oklahoma! and My Fair Lady, the theatre has been particularly known for its long-running performances of musicals. Other notable productions include 42nd Street and Miss Saigon, which is the theatre’s longest-running show. Andrew Lloyd Webber, the composer, is the owner of the theatre complex. Since January 2019, the venue has been undergoing repairs, and the theatre will reopen in July 2021 after more than two years of major maintenance and shutdown because to the COVID-19 pandemic in the United Kingdom. The West End premiere of Disney’s Frozen took place on August 27 at Drury Lane, with general performances beginning on September 8, 2021.
