Brand Overview
As of the fifties, Casa Batlló was not in the possession of the Batlló family any longer. Since the 1990s, the building has changed owners and companies, but the house is now owned by the Bernat family, who carefully renovated the house.
In 1995, the family decided to open the house to the public and present this architectural gem to the world, and they offered the use of the building for events. Since 2002, and side by side with the celebration of the International Year of Gaudí, cultural visits have also been made at Casa Batlló. Both are active at the present time, and there are constant changes with regards to the offer and the contents.
Currently, Casa Batlló is a part of the UNESCO list and is one of the main attractions of Barcelona that can be recommended to everyone who is interested in Gaudí’s works and modernism. It is also one of the most popular cultural and tourist sites, for it hosts over one million visitors annually.

Street Escape: Gaudí and the Hidden Treasure
Gaudí and the Hidden Treasure is a game in which you have to find a treasure in the streets of Barcelona following clues in the modernist buildings using a book, a map, special tools, and a box.
The game is designed for 2 to 5 people. It is suitable for families, couples, or a group of friends who are out on a holiday. It is self-paced, and you can take as much time as you want to go through and read real stories of Barcelona. The minimum age that is recommended for the use of the products is 6 years.
The game is played in front of the ticket booth of Casa Batlló and returns there as well. The route covers 2.75 kilometres and some of the architectural masterpieces of modernism like Casa Milà, Casa Fuster, and Casa de les Punxes, among others. The estimated time for the game is around two hours.
The Casa Batlló was built with the help of the funding of Josep Batlló and Amalia Godó, who hired Gaudí. When they passed away, the house was sold with a peculiar clause: that is why, in case a treasure was found in the building, it had to be returned to the family. But the treasure was never found.
The Entrance Hall
The large open entrance hall on the ground floor opens directly into the Batlló family’s private entrance hall through a modernist grid. This is the first place that the visitors will be taken to during the entire visit.
This space is designed as an underwater environment, and it brings people into Jules Verne’s world with the turtle-shell-like skylights, curved wall shapes, and a magnificent wooden spiral staircase. The bannister that is carved from hardwood is of the skeletal structure of a large animal rising through the impossible space.
The Noble Floor
The Noble Floor is the core of the house; it has a special hall, which demonstrates the idea of maximum modernism, showing how the bourgeoisie of that time lived. The first room that can be observed on this floor is Mr. Batlló’s study and a peculiar mushroom-shaped fireplace.
This leads to the house’s main living room, which has a large picture window at its centre, facing Paseo de Gracia, which is perfect for display as well as for watching. Some of the other features that are more or less equally significant include the massive oak doors where Gaudí has used the stained glass panes and a totally undulating ceiling that is reminiscent of the sea.
