What are the importance of plants?

Among the many essentials that plants provide us are food, fibrous material for clothing and shelter; medicine; and fuel. Green plants are responsible for the production of the most fundamental food for all living organisms: carbohydrates and proteins. The production of food results in the release of oxygen into the atmosphere. It is absolutely necessary for us to survive to be able to take in this oxygen from the air we breathe.

Anthuriums and how to repot them. Carefully remove it from its current container, trimming any brown leaves or wilted flowers that may have formed on the plant. In a slightly larger pot (about 1-2 inches larger in diameter), place the plant and fill it with a light and aerated soil blend, such as one that contains 50 percent peat moss and 50 percent coconut fibre.

Adding to the beauty of Flamingo Flowers is a continuous display of bright waxy, red heart-shaped spathes with yellow spadices that appear throughout the season. The flower can be expected to last for approximately two to three months on average. In their natural rainforest environment, these houseplants thrive best in indirect, high light sources, such as those provided by a south-facing window.

The Kentia palm can usually be kept in a 3-gallon container for several years of lush growth, depending on the size of the container you use. The palm grows slowly, but if it becomes too large, or if it becomes too tall and top heavy, it may need to be repotted into a 5-gallon container to prevent it from overgrowing.

In the right conditions, a kentia palm will develop into a magnificent specimen that can grow to be up to ten feet tall and spread its branches out across the ground (and even higher outdoors).

Repotted plants – L&G Parlor Palms are shipped in 4″ or 6″ grow pots, and they only require repotting every few years, and only if the plant is unhappy (for example, if it has been overwatered), or if the soil needs to be refreshed and new nutrients are added. If you want your plant to grow to a larger size, find a new grow pot that is 2″ larger than the one it is currently in.

Parlor palms thrive in containers because they can keep their roots contained. According to the Missouri Botanical Garden, it is important to plant your parlour palm in a pot with adequate drainage because soil that retains too much water can cause root rot in the plant. Look for potting soil that is based on peat, or make your own by mixing in sand to keep the mix light.
