Rose Bella English Sparkling
The 2018 Bride Valley Rose Bella is a sparkling wine from the Dorset estate of wine writer Steven Spurrier and his wife Bella. The wine is made from grapes planted in an amphitheatre-like vineyard overlooking Litton Cheney, near Bridport. The local geology is similar to Champagne, with the village of Kimmeridge having similar chalky soil. The wines are a delight to drink, with beautiful fruit from the rolling vineyards. The wine has a deep appearance in the glass, a beautiful salmon pink with a constant fine mousse and great energy. The nose is attractive with a raspberry and redcurrant fruit character, light creamy nuances, and great freshness.
Blanc des Blancs English Sparkling
The 2017 Bride Valley Blanc des Blancs is a 100% Chardonnay from the south-facing slopes of Litton Cheney, Dorset, produced three years after the vintage. The wine is a perfect apéritif, with a silver pale color, lemony tints, white flowers, and a spring-like freshness on the nose. The palate is pure, with light creaminess at the start and a Granny Smith acidity on the finish. The Dorset estate, owned by wine writer Steven Spurrier and his wife Bella, is planted in an amphitheatre-like vineyard overlooking Litton Cheney. The local geology is similar to Champagne, with the village of Kimmeridge having similar chalky soil to the Champagne region. Blanc des Blancs English Sparkling Wine, Sussex
The Rathfinny 2017 Blanc de Blancs is a limited production of elegant Sussex Sparkling, made from Chardonnay grapes grown and hand-harvested on the Rathfinny Wine Estate. This wine has gained recognition among discerning wine writers, with Jamie Goode naming it “One of England’s finest.” The wine is made from 100% Chardonnay and aged for 36 months on its lees. The luminous, flaxen-gold hue leads to a heady nose of ripe papaya and creamy lemon balm, a refined beading of white peach and fennel pollen, and a silken, yuzu zest finish. Rathfinny Estates, established in 2010, is a family-owned Sussex wine grower and producer, focusing on a south-facing slope in England’s South Downs. The low-intervention, traditional method of Sussex Sparkling wines reflects the terroir, with rich, autolytic notes and a low dosage that emphasizes the purity of fruit.
