About Oxfam
Oxfam is an international community of people who have a firm conviction in a world that is less cruel and inherently better, where everyone can thrive rather than simply exist. In this regard, they are optimistic that once the causes of injustice and inequality that lead to poverty are dealt with, poverty will be overcome.
Their organisation was established in 1942 under the name of the Oxford Committee for Famine Relief in order to send food to the Greek people who starved due to the blockade of the Allies in Axis-controlled territory. They acted and collected important money for the famine relief, but they also protested against the fact that ordinary people suffer while the few decision-makers enjoy.
Famine committees throughout the United Kingdom in 1945 were calling on the British government to allow Britons to send food parcels to Germany and the lifting of the blockade. The people have always fought against the decisions made by the leaders of the world as the voice for justice and equality.
Impact stories

Every day, thousands of communities all over the world are getting support from Oxfam in order to enable them to work their way out of poverty. These are just some of the people that they have managed to get in touch with and they are telling their stories in their own way.
The recent upsurge of the violence in Gaza has been observed to be having a very negative effect on the civilian populace.
There is no one safe and there is no place safe. Those who have been able to escape the persistent bombing are living in camps, in makeshift structures, and even on the streets.
Being able to use clean water and food sparingly and for a limited number of times. They are on the edge of starving to death or falling sick if bombs are not the cause of their deaths. This is a very sad event as far as the health of people and their safety are concerned.
Gaza crisis: sign their ceasefire petition now
I will not sit idly and see Palestinian and Israeli non-combatants suffer for political ineptitude. Humanity has to be demonstrated to people who are involved in this violence and humanitarian disaster. All lives are equal and they won’t be split on this.
You have to work as hard as you can to demand that there should be an end to hostilities at once to provide humanitarian assistance to people who are subjected to unbearable conditions. The situation in Gaza has to be addressed and the blockade has to be lifted, The people there need water, food and fuel. They request that you endeavour to free hostages detained in Gaza.
The only way to find the solution is to have a path for peace and justice for both Palestinians and Israelis. This is why your government and other leaders of the world must strive to reduce violence at the moment.
Poverty and inequality

Inequality is increasing in every corner of the world, and poverty is its direct result. They believe in equality. You know they know you do too. This is a lie: there is not enough for everyone to have a share. And that it is ‘their’ versus ‘their’. Altogether, it is possible to require fair conditions for everyone.
Tackling climate change

Effects of climate change are being experienced more by people in the developing nations which are least contributing to the problem.
It should be noted that the world can be more equal. Anyone of them exposed to the climate crisis has what it takes to withstand the worst of the climate change and create better worlds for generations to come.
Women’s rights and gender justice
The chance for long-term change is with millions of women who are living in poverty right now. Women’s rights are human rights, and the possibility of change is in their own hands. Because of this, they ensure that women’s rights are at the core of all their operations.
