Why is it called Five Ten shoes?
Five Ten shoes got their name from the founder, Charlie Cole, and the original product design manager, Peter Metolius. The two were big wall climbers in Yosemite National Park, and they noticed that there were no shoes on the market that could provide the grip and support they needed while climbing. So, they set out to create their own line of shoes, and they named it Five Ten after the maximum difficulty rating of a climbing route.
Today, Five Ten is still known for its high-performance climbing shoes, but the company has expanded its offerings to include shoes for mountain biking, BMX, and even skateboarding.
