TOG24 was established in 1958 by Donald Ward in the English county of West Yorkshire. By the end of the 1950s, millwright apprentice “Big D” had collected enough knowledge of textile looms in Dewsbury, West Yorkshire, to go out on his own. Located in West Yorkshire’s Spen Valley district, Heckmondwike began manufacturing footwear in the 1960s and then moved into the production of sports bags and football kits in the 1970s. Casual apparel and skiwear were introduced as the company rose in popularity and acclaim. As a result, we were forced to begin manufacturing our apparel in other countries, a practise that has continued to this day.
Tog24 is the acronym for “Truth Over Glory Everyday.” It’s not a place where you can raise flags on top of a mountain or ski down sheer ice cliffs; rather, it’s a place where you can go to a bar or go skiing with your family to a bar, for us. The Heckmondwike factory shop was the starting point for everything. In part due to the overwhelming positive response, we have decided to develop our own network of TOG24 stores rather than simply selling the goods to other merchants.
