History Of Napiers The Herbalists

Duncan Napier started Napiers The Herbalists. He became Scotland’s most famous herbalist and a prominent Victorian botanist despite being abandoned at birth. Original herbal treatments, natural therapeutic skincare, botanical beauty and herbal food supplements, and superior teas are his legacy.

Duncan was raised by an innkeeper and his wife when his mother abandoned him at birth in 1831. He was beaten and treated like a slave. Duncan apprenticed to a baker at 9. But the wheat dust gave him a persistent cough. Inspired by his mentor John Hope, he left home at 15 to study Scientific Botany and join the Edinburgh Botanical Society to find a cure.

He developed Lobelia Cough Syrup after becoming interested in plants. The success motivated him to become a herbalist and create a shop to sell herbal treatments in Edinburgh. Duncan founded a herbal shop in Bristo Place, Edinburgh, on 25 May 1860. Patients waited hours to visit him for herbal remedies.

He collected herbs and plants for his New York-selling herbal cures on weekends in the Scottish hills. He was esteemed by the Medical Reformers of England and British Pharmaceutical Society. His three sons and grandsons joined the firm, opening Glasgow and Bathgate outlets.

Napiers The Herbalists proudly pursue Duncan Napier’s “to provide an affordable choice of natural health care for all people” dream.

Napiers The Herbalists combination herb compositions address the whole person and body, staying faithful to their tradition. They also make many products in practitioner-strength doses. Every day, they live their motto, Tried, Tested, and Trusted. Napiers The Herbalists cures have been tested by generations and returned to them decade after decade.
