And thus their story begins with their co-founders, Drs. Tei-Fu and Oi-Lin Chen, whose humanitarian efforts drove them to found a business that provides individuals with the instruments for being physically and mentally sound, joyful, and complete.
Though Sunrider is a company based in Utah, USA, which was established in 1982, the journey of its founders started much earlier in Taiwan, the birthplace of Tei-Fu, the leader. Tei-Fu, when a kid, had a lot of health problems. The folk medicine methods of his grandfather, which included herbal treatments, were his way of treatment. Such plants’ powerful medical properties not only made Tei-Fu fall in love with Chinese herbal medical thought but also ignited his whole lifelong interest in this philosophy. Oi-Lin was an exceptional medical student from Hong Kong who happened to be his classmate and wife-to-be when he was a college student who specialized in herbal medicine and pharmacology. The very same things that made him appreciate nature and reshape his way of thinking years ago made him team up with his partner and together they combined their natural curiosity, scientific knowledge and entrepreneurial energy to create a new company that would have the same effect on people.
The Sunrider family company holds true to its guiding principle, which continues to guide them to this day. The wife of Mr. Chen is Dr. Oi-Lin, who is a medical doctor and his husband is Mr. Tei-Fu, who is a herbalist with a pharmacy degree. Ken and Sherry have the comfort of thousands of supportive independent business owners and franchise shop owners, and the five children of the owners are the main guiding force of their worldwide enterprise, which covers more than 45 countries.
